  2. wow! Did you improve in speed aswell as quality after taking on comission work or was your stuff already pretty high standard? I've always loved painting and im pretty good at it but never really knew how to break in to the comission side of things. How important is speed for example?

  3. Hi guys thanks for the comments it makes post these pics all worth it. Hi Cal I've always been a fast painter it comes down to doing all of one thing at the same time all the faces or water bottles . I paint every figure the same way i even start in the same place on each figure, when i put the brush on the figures and turn the figure in the same direction, this also helps not to miss parts. As far as speed is concerned of importance the most important thing is to get work done fast enough to keep people happy but not so fast as to effect the quality of your work. most people just want to be kept in the loop as to how things are going so i let them know up loading pics to the blog on progress and emails making sure they are happy. As far as quality yes it has improved since starting commission work as i am painting between 15 to 20 hours a week for the past two years some times up to 30 hours. I've bought books asked questions like you have and looked at top painters blogs and i always try to improve both speed and quality. i don't have a low quality or mid quality painting i always try for my best and so far nobody has asked for there money back or said they didn't like the figures. The way to break into this work is to start selling your figures on line ebay trademe or what ever you have where you are and mention that you are a commission painter and people will ask if you can paint them something or when they get your figures if they are good enough then they will ask for you to paint more. Good luck and if you have any other question fire away.
