10th Cuirassiers 15mm AB, Napoleonic, Quatre Bras Diorama stage 2

Well the british are done so it was on to the french, I still haven't decided whether to add a couple of dead french infantry or not, but here are the cuirassiers  which are going on the diorama they are from Eureka minatures AB range real nice figure nice detail and easy to paint. There was quite a bit of flash on the horses but i know from experience with these minatures that that's not normal.

I decided to cut the front legs of this horse

and bend them under so that it looked a bit like the horse had been shot hope it works

love the look of this guy he was fun to paint

18mm Napoleonic British, 28th Regiment, Quatre Bras diorama stage 1

This is the first stage of a diorama that I'm working on, part of my Eureka minatures spotlight. The diorama is based around the 28th British regiment in square defending against a charge by cuirassiers of the 10th regiment at Quatre Bras. the diorama will be on a circular base with the corner of a British square under attack from french Heavy cav.

Here are the first pics of the 28th almost finished . Looking at these pictures i think i will do some more work on the faces. They look great to the eye but not happy with the way they photographed.

and they are gorgeous I mean i love the AB range that Eureka have and I have two AB Napoleonic armies and would be more than willing to start again using this range figures.,

They are not quite as finely detailed as the AB range but they do have enough and look real nice. Hopefully the pictures show this off. For me a figure with a with a well defined face is important it can be the deference between a good army and a great army on the table. the only problem i had was that 2 of the bayonets broke off while painting. I was pleasnatly surprise at the quality and smooth finish of these figure and would give them an overall 8 out of 10.

Day of days flames of war competition

Well the weekend came and went and for some reason I didn't seem to get many photos ( probably because i was fighting for my life for most of the weekend), the first game was my only win 6-1 on a river crossing then i lost 4-3, 4-3 there were more panthers on the russian side than there were on the German thats late war for you
 below are a few pictures of my first game.
Cal lined up his tank army and set off towards the minefields with a less than happy look on his face

heres the other side . i started with two platoons of grenadiers on board lost only two stands of infantry after around 14 hits from the prelim bombardment

well here's where Cal's army pretty much stayed for the rest of our 14 turns

each time a tank made it across the minefield and bridge i was able to destroy it i think 1 t34 and two stuarts survived for a while

my panthers made it on first turn i sent them to the other side of the board and dealt with a break through which almost took the objective once i destroy those platoons i brought them back over to the right side to finish off what the mine fields hadn't destroy. In the end it was almost even mine fields verses panther kills

Callum through in a final desperate attempt to take the righ hand objective with two stuarts that i just couldn't seem to kill with the panthers, but sadly for Cal i had two panzer faust hits as he assaulted in and i killed both.

 

the game ended when i killed the 3 t34/85 on the edge of the forest, I had never won against Callum before and was very happy to get a win, he did say that i would have won even if i hadn't turned up because of the mine fields maybe he was right but i'll take the win.

On the second game i lost on the last turn when Jamies artillery finally ranged in, La haye Sainte turned up on the russian fron strange that, it did look great full of German infantry with 4 Hmg's attached

I almost took out 5 t34/85's when my pioneers turned up on thsi edge i bailed 4 with flame throwers killed 1 with a panzerfaust and failed my tank terror, for the next 5 turns he slowly killed two platoons with mg fire from 5 t34/85 and 3 panthers. bit of a shame really.

They're thinking of playing Lasalle at the club so i think there are 4 stands

which look better anyway so this will give me 14 Battalions of infantry now.

I'm not that happy with the paint job on these , I've worked out a new way of painting the blue and they look a whole heap better. Might have to start again

I really liked the look of the overcoats makes the

army look like they've fought a few battles already

 I haven't found out about basing for the artillery in Lasalle, i have six guns at present.

finally got my British horse artillery finished think i'll need some limbers to finish the look
