28mm Lee's Legion finished
These figures are Perry Miniatures and probably my first Perry miniatures i hated painting so many things wrong with them i wouldn't know where to start, i worked real hard to make them look good
The swords were so thin they will end up breaking the faces were just bad the horse harves when cast didn' t all meet together properly and a lot of them were bent a twisted the
Great work! I'm currently painting up Perry's Lee's Legion infantry. I'm having less of the problems thankfully with these, though some of the moulding is pretty poor and I've had to re-shape things. My last cavalry unit (British Legion) needed a lot of reshaping with a scalpel to make detail clear. You have done a great job on getting your unit to look very nice indeed.
They look really nice and let's just say when I did this unit I uttered many a choice word over the casting which is a shame as the sculpts are great so I know exactly where you are coming from.
I started a big ruckus on TMP when I bitched loud and long about the castings I received. I ordered 12 each of all 4 Continental cavalry units. Out of 48 figures, 18 were unusable. Even what I kept, was a ton of work to get into decent shape. As you said, horses legs so twisted that it had to be done on purpose. Just to force the castings into that silly box they use. All of the galloping horses rear legs were fused together and had to be separated, and then re-sculpted. And those little "worms" were everywhere. Great to see how seriously they took the complaints. Same old, same old.......Bill
They look good, what was wrong with them?

ReplyDeleteFor all the problems with them, I think you have done a cracking job getting them to this stage.

The efforts paid off mate, you've done a fantastic job on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments guys, it's a bit sad to see figures come out like these when we all know that Perrier can make some wonderful miniatures,
