As part of the Anologue painting comp I've been trying to get as many of my own figures painted as possible

here's the first 48 figures of 82 ecw cav, i took a wee break after these were done and did 28 ww2 Germans -28mm and a mortar section 15mm and now i'm working on 28mm cowboys, then i'll head back to the rest of the cav and infantry. So it's all on.

There is one regiment of Cuirassier, two of Horse and one of Dragoons. I have two more of horse to go plus command figures.

I've decided that once the competition is over i will be selling all the figures painted, so if anyone is interested drop me an email and we can talk figures. I'll post a for sale post with pics at the end. The British ww2 have already gone.

Well here we are again, today i finished off two Cav Regiments and started basing the four cav Regiments i've finished so far. This leaves me 2 more to finish and 10 command figures to paint about 34 figures in all left to do.

Yesterday i finished painting three layers on all the 90 horses so now it's to actually painting the men, here's the first batch of 12 figures which i painted this afternoon, There is still a few things to do on these guys but they are mostly finished. Sadly this coming week is very busy and i want be getting to many done, but i will try i have 30min each lunch time at work. Really pleased with this regiment, next is a light cav and a heavy unit at the same time 24 figures.

Well I am now undertaking to paint all my ecw cavalry in one go, and yes i am mad, it's a big job.

So far i have done two coats on the red and light brown cav which i start with the first two coats the same, one coat on the white and grey horses and one coat on the dark brown. the metal has two coats and the skin is finished

Here's the next Two Regiments, So the collection is starting to grow now I've finished 4 Regiments since Christmas, I've started the cav first coat of horse flesh on around 50 so far hope to do another 20-30 at work today.

Here we have the Kent trained band Regiment, I've finished another two Regiments but can't post them quite yet as they are part of the comp and must be up for a while first.

Not sure what i'll end up doing with all these guys as i haven't gamed this period, but i do enjoy the look of them when they are all put together. I undercoated the cav tonight and have only about 70 infantry left to paint.

I Started a new army in the weekend and even thought i didn't get a lot of time I managed to get a lot done. I think all this painting for the Analogue painting comp has made me paint faster than i used to paint and that was quite fast anyway. To night i hope to get the rest of the cav done and some more work on the infantry. That will depend on the wife of course.

Well it's been a busy Christmas break but it's finally over here's some of the last items finished in the past week, Finally based a couple of command figures for my French

I got a few casualties based up for My Impetus Roman force

And I started and completed my new Fallschimjager company, I've ordered some mortars to add to them

Even though i had to spend an extra couple of hours fixing the colours, i'm actually quite happy with the end result

Crazy as i am i started a new batch of ecw instead of finishing the last batch so now i have two part done.

I glued these boys together yesterday and undercoated them, today i applied base coat, dry bush and a coat of devlan mud wash, they look a bit dark at this stage but another dry brush and they will be right. This will bring my total of T-34's to around 24.

Today was a real mix of bits and pieces Started the day off with the ecw below then after heading out for a while i came back and paint the Indians above they are by foundry i have a few more foot and a bunch of cav by both foundry and Dixon.

And then to finish off the afternoon I painted up the last of my Roman Auxiliary Cav and a command base

This is a work in progress and i have to say it's not really going that well the base coat i think was a bit dark on a lot of them so the camo doesn't come off as good as it should. I am doing three different base coats. After painting 28mm i must say I'm not really enjoying 15mm as much as i used to.

this afternoon i attempted to fix the mess that i had made of my new boxset of Fallschimjager i think that I might have just managed to do it , it took two hours, now all i need to do is finish a few more and put another layer on the faces

Well here we are again at the beginning of a new army this time it's English civil war, I picked this up off trademe a year ago there's about 80 cav to base up as well,they are all foundry figures. Yesterday i undercoated them and this morning I've paint the first coat of flesh on about half of them, now i'm off fishing with my son.

This time i got the manufacture correct sorry about the other post I got these finished the other day and have been doing very little painting the past two days as my wife has seen fit to put me to work painting the back room.. I have some German paras that i am trying to work up the energy to paint but 15mm just isn't as much fun as it used to be. I've done so much basing in the past two weeks that i have run out of many of the grasses and flowers, so i put an order in to warlord games for a heap more. Hope it doesn't take to long to get here.

Here's my next entry into the Analogue hobbies competition they aren't quite finished yet need another coat on the guns wood work, the hair needs doing and most need a coat of burnished gold but they now look the part i started these two days ago, which is a new speed record for me. My body is starting to feel the effects of painting nearly 200, 28mm figures in 12 days crazy. I need to make sure that i can last the distance.

I've used British uniform as the base colour and grey brown as the highlight.

Well it's been a busy year with the change over from15mm to 28mm

it's taken a while to master the different style but i think i'm getting there

thanks to all that full the site, you make it all a lot of fun with your comments. the awesome thing about all these sites is you can learn from other styles and i am always looking for ways to improve so thanks again, next year looks just as busy and I've already had to turn down some work because believe it or not i have a life out side of the paint brush. Looks like i should be credited as a pastor his year so that should keep me busy or should i say more busy if that is possible.

I've started building my camp/base for Impetus there will be around 7-8 figures on the base the scene is that they are build the fort wall, the ground will get a coat of pollyfiller which will hide any gaps the sharpened sticks were made from old sprues that i had lying around and well that's the last of my balsa.

Below are two ballista and a mecic that once the bases are dry need finishing off.

This is my last post for the year the next post will have figure totals completed this year and boy it's been a busy one

Here's the last batch of Romans until i do the base camp and heavy weapons, I've just completed the bases and sent the pics away so will post the final army total . which has taken me nine days to paint.
Today i started a French elite Battalion and some British WW2. I haven't put a picture on the standard yet as i can't make up my mind which one to put on. I ran out of figures to do another eight man base Poo.

So another batch completed and finished, actually I've finished and based another 4 bases and based waiting to dry another four bases, and other than a base camp and a for heavy weapons that will be it for now on the Romans. I've started some French elite infantry this morning and hav a coat of skin and dark blue done if my wife heads off to the movies with my daughter and my son is busy with friends then i will hit the brushes again this afternoon. I'm very pleased with progress I'm completed 20 bases worth of infantry i think 154 figures in 9 days not bad even by my standard. I hope you've enjoyed following this project as much as i have painting it.

I've based these guys ready for finishing for the comp so once again after the finished picks have been on Analogue Hobbies blog for a day i'll post pics I still have quite a few more to go but they are all well along the way, I have undercoated my Christmas present one Fallschirmjager company boxset and i dug out of the cupboard 3 marder II's. The only problem now is my wife said tonight "your not going to paint those are you" which we know what that means. I'm going to need to get sneaky or my painting time is going to be a lot less. Actually i have already done two coats on the marders they will need a dry brush before the camo is added.

Well it's boxing day and the family wants to blob out and do nothing so i took the opportunity to go mad and hit the brushes I got up at 7.30am and started painting and other than a short break for lunch and a quick trip to the store i didn't stop until 5.45pm that's around nine hours straight I'm painting around 100 Romans, the saddest thing is even after nine hours i still have more to do. I have last coat of white,gold to paint and then the detail for all the shields i have 21 figures that i completed on the first batch so hopefully i'll have about 130 figures ready to base sometime this week, as long as the wife stays happy.

As many of you will know by now i've entered a fun competition on analogue painting blog where between 20 December and 20th of march you have to paint as many figures as possible these are my first finished I'm really pleased with the way they have come up. Last night i painted the skin on all the rest and this morning got up early and painted the first of three layers of white, it might be a comp but these lads will be in my collection which means i have to look at them and i can't cut out any stages to get faster.

Hi there again i decided since i'm painting Romans i might as well base some of the ones i'd already started they will need the odd touch up and i need 5 more shields to finish the command figures to do the next base. I did these chaps a while back but when i found i'd miscounted on the shields for some reason i just put them in the cupboard and that's where they stayed.

what mad man decided to do a whole roman army in one go here's the first batch of shields (104) 3 hours after stating them the backs are painted two colours and the fronts now have 3 layers on the

for the red i start with black red paint all of shield then i paint the middle blood red going across the sheild then the sides going down, then when dry repeat this with slightly different brush strokes

some will be in green some in yellow they will be done by layering three colours to give depth to the design. this is fine when your doing 20 or 30 shields but 104 i think i'll go mad

The first 52 infantry are coming along well the white is done and first layer of wood done soon it will be onto the detailing

and then thre's the next lot i gave them there first coat of bolt gun metal last night

So three days in other than a sore back and i'm seeing double all's going to schedule

Well only one and a half days before the painting challenge starts i had to take out any commission work that i was going to include so here's what I have dug out and have undercoated ready to start i have some dragoons out drying at the moment so not only Romans but also WW2 British and Elite French Naps if i get through these, there's always the below figures to start gluing together. Here we are again Taking on those peskie Russians they just never seem to know when to throw the hat in.
Nigel and I took on Craig & Dale we both took two support option so decided that we needed a larger table think it was an 8x6. the French were on the attack so received two extra Battalions of infantry. I took a guards Division with young guards and cuirassiers and the support. Both Nigel and i decided to hit the flanks and see what happened. as it was three battalions ended up crossing the hill near left of centre on the hill for and interesting wee fight there.

Just about to hit the Russian lines I took a few hits on most of my units at this point but not enough to do any real damage. By this stage Niglel had lost one Battalion but his second was well placed to take out a battery of guns

My guards race across the centre to stop and destroy a Battalion of infantry that broke the lines

Craig's cav appears one turn after ours they take out one of my Battalions of infantry in square i roll terriable dice

good by guns the first of three batteries to be destroyed by the mighty French I took one battery by forcing it to limber just before the assault. the Heavy cav took out the other

Nigel just couldn't get the upper hand and was repelled i think three times, on the far side i have completely destroy Craigs infantry they are one away from defeat

the meeting of the cav the game had been won by Nigel destroying the last of Craig's infantry, we get lucky with the dice and destroy one of Craig's heavy cav but bounce off the other, the battle field is left to the French. Found out later that we had used the tactics rules wrong but all and all a fun game

28mm Victrix Old Guard finished

Finally after nearly 3 weeks I've managed to get these guys finished, the Christmas season really plays havoc with the painting schedule. And after all that i forgot to spray some dull coat on to get rid of the gloss look ow well there's always the next box of old guard. I'm busy undercoating figures for the comp which starts next week. I've had to change my planned painting list as they have asked for no commission work. It will be a chance for me to paint up some of my piles of lead and maybe the odd plastic if i can be bothered gluing them up

well these Lads will be out tonight for there first battle hopefully they do a little better than most of my figures on there first outing

I've taken on the Challenge laid down by the Analogue Hobbies web site which you can find on my blog list, the challenge is to paint as many figures as you can between the 20th December and the 20th of March and base them. So after looking through some of my figures and some commissions I've decide to tackle the Romans i have two armies for commissions and all of the rest of my Romans that i haven't started. then if i have any time left i will get back to to my French.

Well here we are again haven't had as much time with the brushes this week with family stuff school plays and such oh and my 20th wedding anniversary but for those who know me you know that i will find a pace somewhere in there to paint so here's where i'm at first of all the Old Guard still working on them up to the gold now did the first coat on the back packs last night i think they are coming along well and should have them finished some time next week. I also paint up part of a commission yesterday a few German ww2. I have some Americans and a few German ww1 trench raiders to do before they head off

still a bit of work to do yet on the faces and the back packs and a few other things but they are starting to look the part oh and i still have to do most of the trousers.

How to paint Victrix old guard part two

We finished the last tutorial Painting old guard part one by applying the sky grey everywhere that the white will end up.

I've just driven for 4 hours to get home and know that i won't have any time this week to do much painting so have decided to do three figures so that i can finish the tutorial hope you enjoy it.

1. Now its time to add the white make, sure that you leave some of the grey showing through it will give depth to the white. On the belts i do long brush strokes either side leaving a bit in the middle and then paint across the belt near the top and bottom or any place the belt meets something else.

Also i have paint the moustache in German camo black (above)

below the moustache has been painted in bubonic brown

2. back pack first coat is in burnt umber

3. first layer of gold is done in shining gold (Citadel)

4. second is done by adding Devlan mud wash (Citadel)

5. third layer is now done by painting all the raised areas in burnished gold (Citadel) sadly this picture doesn't show the effect very well. I don't add the wash to the buttons only larger areas, but I do both the other coats of gold on every thing. Gives a better finish

6. It's time to paint the first layer of the gun this is done inscortched earth (Citadel)

7. also at this time i've paint luftwaffe green 7823 base coat on the water bottle strap

8. Now it's time to paint the wood grain on the gun using Calthan brown (Citadel)

9. I now paint the highlight on the backpack using English uniform it shows up much more defined on the figure than it does in the pictures, paint along the egdes with smooth lines and then a kind of blotch paint the rest in leaving plenty of the first coat.

10. I've painted the water bottle in German camo Medium then later used a mix of sky grey just a very small amount mixed in with english unifrom to do a highlight painting across the bottle to give shadow effect this isn't shown in this picture.

11. first coat of the red now is done by applying black red

12. then i've applied blood red dabbing it around the centre leaving some black red to show through once again this gives depth to the eye.

13. and Bolt gun metal(Citadel) to the gun on the next batch i do i will do a highlight of methal silver later(Citadel)

13a. time for the high light on the moo with Calthan brown (Citadel)

or on this guy Luftwaffe grey then mix white with a Luftwaffe grey for second highlight, remember first coat was German camo black

on this guy i used bleach bone as the second highlight i actually used a bit much on the fella but oh well better luck on the next one. the picture below shows the backpack and water bottle highlight a wee bit better.

14. Now for the highlight on the water bottle strap German camo light green

Painting Victrix Old Guard part one

When I have finished all the stages i will put them all together as one big tutorial.

This is what I've done in the past three days

(All paints are Vallejo unless stated.)

Stage one would be to undercoat

as you can see this guy is gloss black but flat black is better the spray i used was labeled wrong but i'm sure once vanished they will be fine

1. first paint Prussian Dark blue leaving black on belts and strapes

2. paint Flat flesh on all skin you can leave black where the mustache is

if you want i sometimes just paint it all in. The paint needs to be a good coat other wise when you put the wash on it won't look very good.

3. In this picture I've applied a coat of Citadel ogryn flesh wash, don't apply to much or the face will come out redish.

4. I've applied the flat flesh to the face just on the raised pats cheeks nose chin. The picture also shows a face where I've complete cover the mustache, I would in this case paint the mustache black later.
Oh i dry brushed the hats because the gloss just got to me.

5. I've now applied the first highlight on the blue using intense blue. Apply the paint following the lines(creases) on the coat leave the shadow in the darker blue

6. the figure below has the second highlight. This is done by adding a very small amount of sky grey to intense blue once again paint in the direction of the folds and creases on the coat only where the sun would hit,eg. tops of arms on the stomach area between the buttons paint across the figure sideways. Make sure not to cover to much of highlight one.

7. also I've apply sky grey over all the areas that will end up white

I've finally got these lads finished ready to head off to there new home quite happy with the final result they will get a check over just before they go in the box i already notice a wee bit on a hat that need fixing but, its now onto the old guard which i stated yesterday they have there first coat of skin and blue on already so onward and upward

I picked up two boxes of Victrix old Guard the other day and sat down this afternoon to see how I would tackle them. When i spray painted them the other day for some reason the mat paint came out glossy these guys still have the glossy black undercoat once i have finished them (the pants and shoes) i will gloss vanish them and dull coat them to see how the black finishes up but they have come out quite nice. I like the look of Victrix figures the only thing is that they break far to easily

Front Rank SYW limbers general

today i decided it was about time i finished off a few items that i started about a month ago

this is part of a commission that i've been working on few about a year

Opps looks like i need to fix the painting on this wheel

there's a layer of skin to do on the figures with the limbers but that can be done anytime

the ropes are made of wire

this was the first one took me a while to get it right but once i was happy i got to on the second one which came together real fast while it was drying i painted the command figures at the top .

tomorrow after church i'll paint up the bases and they will be ready to send off

Craig and i lined up the forces once again down at the club last night i was attacking so Craig set up his forces on the right and left hand sides of the table one artillery battery each side most of his infantry were deployed on the left hand side.

I deployed on the far left and in the centre just out of the view of his artillery those russians with there extra guns can make a real mess of my troops

first round my artillery gets hits on Craigs far right infantry, I then send the boys marching up the flank and i sent my centrebattalion straight up the middle all seems well

Craig unable to get any shots limbers up and moves his guns up my right flank this could be trouble

My left flank draws nearer to distruction I manage to just hold this side which is not the best when i was the one attacking Craig was about to send in a unit of infantry and cav to finish me off when i jumped out of the building in the middle so he kept the units back to deal with them instead.

Everything seemed to be going well but after this shot Craig fires canister and also gets hits in defensive fire and in the assault knocks me back. I end up losing two out of three Battalions on this side and decide that its not wise to run down the edge of the table as i couldn't maneuver. Craig used his guns and musketry to slowing destroy me

just right of centre turned into a slug fest with noone really getting the upper hand i lost a Battalion to Heavy cav Craig lost one to my infantry i then lost on in the corn fields below but by then my dragoons were crossing the

these poor lads end up as mince meat to a combined attack of heavy cav and the Battalion to the right

Go the dragoons (i see you Russian guns and raise you 4 Battalions of Dragoons) here i come

I was hit twice by canister 20 dice in total but you can't hit us all so time to die

I wasn't to get much further as it was time to go

Craig's heavies came charging down and hit me and then bounced my two units but i survived to fight another day

It was a fun game but sadly i lost 8 points worth of infantry to Craigs's 3 points for one infantry and guns

I finished these guys last night so tonight they head out to fight tonight, hope they do better than my heavy cav or my stugs or my panzers IV's they all died on there first outing. Really happy with how they've come out. looks like i might be buying or swapping with Craig for another two boxes of these guys two of hussars and some old guard so there will be more painting as always.

I've been working on these guys for the past week off and on there were a couple of days where i couldn't paint but painted most nights, they are not done yet though still more to do i haven't attached the guns and other bits yet normally i have them all glued up but somehow forgot. I'm really happy with how they are coming along and hopefully before the weekend is up they will be ready to base.

when i glued the first box up a month or so ago i made up a few elites by mistake i will replace these later

Well I've started long way to go but for one nights work i'm real pleased with where i'm at don't know if i'll get much time in the next few days but will be interesting to see where i'm at a week from now. I'm really not that fond of the plastics but now that they are done will i even get around to painting metals. We shall see.

I've been working away on these lads for a while they are Assault group miniatures they have really nice detail. I've been waiting for the bases to turn up to get them and the rest of the Afghan and Taliban figures finished. I have already had delivery of another 50 odd figures including Saddam and quite a few nasty looking lads, some allied mercenaries and more British all for Reg.

These guys are coming along not quite there but getting closer

I'm working on the ground tonight, I want it to look quite muddy and wet

so after three layer of paint I've now added a brown dye. the picture at the bottom is a test figure with

a thin layer of wallpaper glue that dries clear well that's what i'm hoping for i will add the odd tuft of dry brown grass and maybe a couple with very dark green grass but i don't think i will add any static grass. Have to see what the client say when he see's my end result.

It's been a while since my last post I've been away for a week then ended up redoing me sons bedroom but i have managed to do a bit so here's the lads.

First up my second lot of cuirassiers once these are done i'll start on 3 regiments of Dragoons

I've also been working on Reg's Heavy and light limbers plus a few more Austrian commanders for his syw lots of work still to do on the limbers and commanders

Last Friday i started work on some ww1 Germans another commission still quite a bit of work still to do but they are now looking the part

last nights game- the death of my army

Oh what a fun game we had last night I was versing Craig and Martin and it fell to me to attack so with 8 regiments of infantry and one heavy artillery i set to messin up my old Russian foes

here i am lined up ready for battle

I make an attack down both flanks

Craig and Martin left the guns undefended so i march straight down the centre

things still look pretty good for my lads at this stage but in my next turn i fail all my attacks and this proves to be vital.

The Russian reserve cav arrive things are not looking the best

even though i survived the canister i took so many hits i could no longer attack i was then forced into square and the attacked by heavy cav which bounced twice the second time i had moved a second regiment behind so they could not break off and they were destroyed.

my right flank is destroyed by Martins forces

I get my reserve cav and send one against Craig's guns and one against Martin on my right Martin forms square and i bounce twice

My flank completely crumbles

In the distance my cav destroys Craig's guns and then in turn is destroyed by Craig's cav as you can see the rest of my army is falling back, end of game one to the Russians

Almost there but then what do we find after cutting the pole on the first flag to short i quickly did another and you wouldn't believe it, it's upside down and really stuck fast. they had to be my GMB flags that i ordered from England. I can only hope that i can get the pole out later.

Still waiting on the enamel paint i mix with turps for the bases hopefully here tomorrow

I've based them just waiting on some paint to start the painting of the bases. I'm really pleased with the final result and can't wait to see them completed then of course like most figures i paint boxed up and sent on there way to their rightful owner. I think that Reg will really enjoy this army when completed

I've been using a different system to paint the flesh it's quicker but i'm not happy with it so i think i will return to what i was doing before.

progress report on Perry French artillery limber and syw infantry

Here's a quick update on progress so far this week I managed to do most of the artillery limber and 6pdr gun last night still a few bits to go and of course the base. If i had thought about it i would have paint the second limber as well since i had to mix the paint for the uniform

I've done a wee bit of work on these boy's as well all the yellow done and first coat on the legging next second coat of skin and highlight of yellow

Well it's been a busy week on the painting table this week as you can see I finished the light infantry for Reg but i also have been working on the first of the Hanoverian line Battalions.

As you can see they still have a lot of work to go but they are well on there way

This morning i undercoated some more heavy cav for my French army i put two coats on the horses this afternoon

the artillery limber is another one of my slow going projects so i decided to put a little paint on they also recieved nother coat this afternoon so all in all things are moving along well

The next army for Reg Is syw once again this tome British/ Hanoverian I've started 24 light infantry and 24 musketeers I've done today the first two coats of flesh first coat of green on the light infantry and started painting the first coat of red actually i'm trying dark flesh (GW) to see how it looks here's a picture of the test figure i painted tonight just to make sure i get the correct mix of colour blends. It's been a while since i painted red uniforms and since this army will have a lot i'd like to get it right at the beginning. looking at it i might add a extra light red highlight still.

Here we are again I've almost finished the British they now have all there camo and all that is left is to do the webbing and heavy weapons, I'm really happy with how they have come out i'll have to see if i can get some better pictures when they are based.

Things have been moving along slowly this week , I've been busy preparing a message for this Sunday at church so haven't had quite as much time to paint so i'm slowly working through some figures that have been on the go for a few weeks above is modern British infantry I've just started putting the first of the camo on below i've made a good dent in the next 4 Battalions of Front rank French line infantry

This figure isn't finished yet still has one more coat of white on trousers and some detail work yet but i'm happy with how he looks so far

Below here we have the very slow progress on my dragoons Craig said that he has the rest turned up so i will have enough to do the 4 Battalions i might do them all at once and then there's the first of my gun teams from Perry miniatures nice models the rest of the team is based up ready to start work but first i need to do some Afgan insurgents for Reg. well here we are again those jolly Russians can't help themselves

I've taken French young guards so i have to win well o i'm a gonna

Lined up and ready to go I'm on the defence but seem to forget this and charge off into the distance

They look ready for a pasting don't you think

the russians lined me up and both of us fired away with very little effect

Now we are get in to the thick of it in the next few turns all of the russians were to be destroyed either by the guns of the front unit

will they never learn charging the guns = death

same thing here they charged my guns and died to a man

my squares only just servived the charge

I managed to destroy one Battalion then get around behind the second game finished before i hit them you can see that Craigs artillery are ready to deal to me but they never got a chance game over French victory viva la France Thanks Craig and Andrew for a fun game

Well we had our first game last night and it was a lot of fun lots of rule checks and a few things to look up great fun.Sadly left my camera at home , Craig was kind enough to send me a couple of pictures. Neither of us had enough to be the attacker so we just put the armies down and started the game, in the end i attacked across the board while Craig advanced and met me in the middle. my attack down the left side with the heavy cav fell to bits as canister ripped them to bit, same happen to my infantyr as they charged the guns in the middle i throw in 8 assualts and failed 7 killed 1 battalion lost 1 by this time because of the fact we were learning time was nearing an end i lost my heavy cav next turn and then i killed another Battalion a fun first game. I didn't quite finish the basing before the game and my flags hadn't turned up from GMB oh well

You'll have to excuse my painting on this figure i supposed to look up and find out who he was but because i was in a hurry just slapped on a bit of paint for tomorrow nights game he will be repainted later if he's lucky if not he will find a place at the back of my gaming cupboard poor lad.

Here i am my first game of Laselle in 28mm tomorrow but i'm not finished yet. I've still got to undercoat the bases and then paint and grass them.

there's one light battalion two 5.5inch guns 9 skirmishers and 3 generals to go and this is just the beginning of my army who new two months ago i'd be painting 28mm Napoleonic's

I finished the next three french infantry battalions and based them up today they don't have the tufts of grass on them yet because its on order. and they still have the odd bit of detail to go but needed them based for a game mid week

Thought i'd post a couple of pictures of the madness that is my life at the moment. Not only am i finishing Reg's Dragoons , I'm about 85% finished my next box of Perry plastic French and some Perry metal command figures but here's the next batch of figures undercoated

1st up a commission for Reg some Modern British para's and Taliban figures. Should be interesting never painted anything like this before and will have to work out the triads for the British uniforms, If anyone out there knows please let me know. I'm not doing the new uniform

Fame's of war birthday bash

My son Justin had three friends over tonight and Craig and i help Justin put on a flames of war games they had a lot of fun Luke and Tom had never played before and Brennan had had one game.

Brennan takes aim and draws first blood knocking out one of Luke shermans while sending his second platoon down the left flank, Justin at the other end advances but gets no hits

Above Luke advances and fires no hits Brennan then takes out another sherman and the first of 7 kills on lukes infantry he fails 6 in a row before making a save not the best

while below Tom deploy's his m4's and fire 8 shot no hits he advances all his sherman's and takes out a Stug's

Justin in his next turn falls back behind the hill and regroups

This is the face of a young man that has just failed his seveth infantry save

It starts to look hopeless for the Americans as all the German tanks move forward for the kill

the end is very near as there is only one M10 left and that's about to die to Justin IV

the , this is all that is left 3 stands of infantry

the defeated, the dice just let them down

the victors, all in all a fun game for everyone. Happy birthday J

These are the first part of my artillery i still have 2 5.5inch guns plus two 6pdr with horse and limbers to go yet I'm very please with the final out come. I decided to do an extra layer in the blue. I did Prussian blue the devlin mud wash then Prussian blue leaving small amounts of the first two coats then i did intense blue with flat blue as my final highlight. the figures are all Perry metals they are very very nice figures.

I've been working on these guys along with a new batch of infantry over the past week tonight i finished basing them and will post some shots in the next few days here are a few shots of where i was at lunch time today.

It's a bit like a factory around here as one lot is being finish the next is half way through and the next is being prepared and sprayed, another box of front Rank french turn up this week, I started thinking about this army only two months ago and have another 4 months before our big Waterloo demo game I've spent over $1000 so far and can see that this is going to be a very deep hole for my cash. The one thing is I'm really enjoying the army and getting a lot of practice doing blue.

Hi guys sorry about there being not to may posts I took photos of the last lot of work and sent the figures away and the pics where no good so I've started my gun crews i bought 10 guns and 2 limbers from Perry Miniatures they are very nice haven't finished them yet but here's the first pics hope you like

Just put on a base coat of blak on the hats will follow up with German grey shade before adding red and gold, the faces still have one more coat to go as well as other bits here and there. Oh and i've just found 6 more figures i undercoated but missed in the paint up poo

last night my wife sat down to watch some netball so i thought why not paint a couple of figures up so here they are there are still a few bits to do yet like i forgot to do rupperts pants oh well, these are a small part of a trade that i did with a friend of mine Richard i think the infantry figure is foundry not sure though. I'm working on a bunch of Old glory figures and a fewe other things so will update you on those later.

I think i'll put some gold lines in the creases of the sleeves and pants on this guy what do you think.
